Parenting Sessions

If I am working with your child, parent sessions are available to help support the progress being made in therapy. Children spend far more time at home than they do in my office, which means parents and caregivers play an essential role in the healing process.

Research consistently shows that children experience better therapy outcomes when caregivers are actively involved in treatment. Parent participation has been linked to greater improvements in emotional regulation, behavior, and long-term success because children have consistent support and reinforcement outside of the therapy room. Even having one supportive, emotionally available caregiver can serve as a powerful protective factor, helping children build resilience and maintain the skills they are learning in therapy.

During parent sessions, we'll discuss relevant updates regarding your child's treatment, progress, and therapeutic goals while maintaining the confidentiality necessary for your child to feel safe in therapy. We'll also focus on practical strategies you can use at home to strengthen your relationship, improve communication, and create an environment that supports your child's emotional growth.

These sessions are also a space for you. Parenting can bring up uncertainty, frustration, guilt, grief, or questions about how to best support your child. Whether you're processing your own emotions, navigating difficult family dynamics, or simply looking for guidance, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions, gain insight, and feel supported in your role as a parent.

Parent sessions are collaborative and tailored to your family's needs. Whether you're looking for guidance on setting healthy boundaries, managing big emotions, supporting your child's therapy journey, or navigating developmental changes, we'll work together to find approaches that fit your family.

Parenting is one of the most meaningful, and often one of the most challenging roles we take on. There isn't a handbook for navigating every stage of your child's development, and what works for one child may not work for another. Whether you're supporting a young child, a teenager, or adjusting to a new family dynamic, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Depending on your needs, you can schedule either a 30 minute parent check- in for brief updates, questions, and strategy planning, or a 50 minute parent session for more in depth discussion, support, and problem-solving.
